Ten-man Edmund Rice College got their hands on the Belfast Senior Schools’ Cup after beating Grosvenor Grammar 2-1 in Tuesday’s final.
Goals from Jack McAlinden and Oran Johnston sealed the win, all after Daniel Larmour had given Grosvenor the lead.
Edmund Rice also had Robert McVarnock sent off in the second half at New Grosvenor.
Central defender Larmour curled a delightful right-foot shot into the corner from 12 yards in the 12th minute to give Grosvenor the lead.
McAlinden replied for Edmund Rice when he dispatched a 35-yard free-kick which bobbled over the goalkeeper after 34 minutes.
McVarnock was sent-off for an alleged stamp on the hour mark and Johnston fired in the winner nine minutes later.
Edmund Rice had other chances – Dillon Whiteway almost scored to cancel out Grosvenor’s opener, but his header drifted wide.
McVarnock’s straight red card heightened the task facing Edmund Rice.
Grosvenor dominated possession after the dismissal but Johnston then pounced to score the winner. Kevin Skelly also went close to extending his side’s lead.
