Michael O’Neill is confident Northern Ireland can finish the job and qualify for next year’s Euro finals.
O’Neill’s players are preparing for a crucial double-header against the Faroe Islands and Hungary next month.
A testing trip to the Faroes on September 4 is followed by a home clash against Hungary three days later.
Northern Ireland sit second in qualifying Group F and firmly on course for next summer’s finals in France.
Asked if he believes they can complete their Euro mission, O’Neill said: “Yes, of course I do. The players also believe it. No doubt about that. They have put themselves in a great position.
“When you pick up points away from home, which we have managed to do, and followed it up at home, it’s a real positive. Maybe in the past, we’ve had a good result and followed it up with a poor result.
“That hasn’t been the case this campaign. We’ve had a good result and followed it up with an even better result and so on. We reacted to losing in Romania by ensuring we won the next game.”
