It was a smash and grab at the Oval with Glenavon player/manager Gary Hamilton coming on as a 68th minute sub for Ciaran Caldwell to grab the winner in added time.

Glenavon had led at the interval after James Singleton had headed home Kevin Braniff’s free-kick.

Then, after good work by Jordan Stewart who freed Davy Scullion on the right, Steven Gordon fired home the equaliser from the winger’s pass.

But it was super-sub Hamilton who grabbed the headlines with his late, late show and moved Glenavon to within a point of fifth placed Glentoran.

Just as the game seemed to be meandering to a 1-1 draw, Hamilton took centre stage to give the Lurgan Blues three points.
