Glenavon stay top of the Danske Bank Premiership table after a 2-1 win against Dungannon Swifts at Mourneview Park on Saturday.

Goals from Andy Hall and Andrew Mitchell sealed the three points for the home side while Kris Lowe got the Swifts only reply.

New Swifts manager Kris Lindsay will be satisfied with his side's display - despite the result - as they performed well in the second half.

In the ninth minute the home side had a good chance. Mark Sykes hit a long ball that found Mitchell. He in turn crossed for Stephen Murray who shot wide.

Six minutes later they had another chance. Mitchell's corner found Rhys Marshall who headed wide - but Glenavon were starting to go through the gears,

In the 21st minute the Lurgan Blues had another attempt. Ben Doherty's effort being well saved by Swifts keeper Alex Moore.

Two minutes later they had another chance but Murray dragged his shot wide when well place.

The home deservedly took the lead six minutes from the break as Hall finished after a fine move from the home team involving Josh Daniels and Murray.

The second half started slowly but the visitors were a wee bit brighter than they were in the first half.

It was 2-0 in the 62nd minute as striker Mitchell got his second goal in two games. Mitchell works very hard for the team and he took his chance very well.

Dungannon had a chance in the 66th minute but Daniel Hughes shot was blocked by keeper Johnny Tuffey.

It was 2-1 in the 76th minute as Lowe fired home after Tuffey saved his first effort. It was a good finish from Lowe and they were very much in the game.

The Swifts had a great chance as there was a scramble after a free-kick from the right but Glenavon cleared the danger.
