Glenn Ferguson hopes new signing Eamon McAllister can give Ballymena United an added goal threat.
McAllister has joined the Sky Blues until the end of the season after impressing with Championship club Ards.
The 27-year-old has bagged 10 goals in 25 appearances for Ards this season, and Ferguson hopes the right-sided midfielder can translate that form into the Premiership.
“Eamon has done really well this season, and is Ards’ top goalscorer,” Ferguson said.
“That is impressive considering he is scoring goals from midfield.
“We have David Cushley returning from injury, and we also have Gary McCutcheon back at the club.
“Now we have some more pace in attack, which is something I believe we have needed this season.
“We also have Ally Teggart and Neal Gawley, so we also have competition for places which is always a bonus.”
Ferguson admits McAllister came highly rated by former Crusaders team-mate Stephen McBride.
“Stephen trained and played with Eamon during their time at Crusaders, and he said Eamon was a real livewire,” Ferguson added.
“He is just the kind of player we are looking for at the minute, and he is another positive addition to the squad.”
Meanwhile, Ferguson admits he is still on the lookout for a defender before the end of the January transfer window.
“I would like a centre-half but they are very difficult to find,” he added.
“It would be good to have more cover and competition in that area of the pitch.
“We have made a number of inquiries, so we will see what happens.”
