IFA confirm Northern Ireland friendly with Qatar on May 31

The Irish Football Association has confirmed that Northern Ireland will play 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar in an international friendly on Sunday, May 31.

The game will be played at Gresty Road, Crewe (5pm kick-off).

It will be the first-ever meeting between the nations and will form part of Northern Ireland’s preparations for the Euro 2016 qualifying clash with Romania at Windsor Park on June 13.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill said: “This match will help us retain our focus as a squad into June as we prepare for the crucial Euro match against Romania.”
