Carrick Rangers needed extra-time to see off Premiership strugglers Institute, with a 3-1 win booking a trip to Crusaders in the quarter-finals of the Irish Cup.

Darren McFadden’s early second-half strike put the visitors in front but that was cancelled out when substitute Anthony Lagan headed home in the 88th minute.

Miguel Chines got Carrick’s noses in front in extra-time with a sublime lob over Martin Gallagher before Adam Dick netted from close range after he was first to react when Ryan Kane’s free-kick was saved.
