Andy Waterworth’s brilliant hat-trick helped Linfield march into the quarter finals of the Irish Cup following this routine win victory over Warrenpoint Town at Windsor Park.

Aaron Burns opened the Blues’ goal account before Andy Waterworth took centre stage. Stephen Lowry then wrapped it up in the last minute.

Burns volleyed the Blues in front on 10 minutes when Grant McCann’s corner somehow made its way to the back post and the midfielder made no mistake.

Waterworth struck just seconds before the interval, picking up a Glenn Belezika pass before rounding goalkeeper Johnny Parr and finishing with ease.

Waterworth did it again six from time, picking up a Stephen Lowry pass before blasting the ball into the bottom corner.

He then completed his hat-trick in the last minute, bursting through the middle and firing in a vicious shot which crashed off both posts before he followed up to score.

Substitute Stephen Lowry finished the job in injury time, waltzing along the by-line before nudging the ball past Parr
