Linfield boss David Healy has hailed the contract extension of midfielder Stephen Lowry.
Lowry – who signed from Coleraine in May last year – has agreed a new two-year deal with the Blues.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be able to announce that Stephen Lowry has agreed and signed a two-year contract extension that will see him extend his stay at the club until May 31, 2018,” Healy told the club’s official website.
“Before being appointed manager I was a Linfield supporter and had seen Stephen play many times so I’m well aware of his considerable ability.
“He’s an experienced player who has a mature and positive attitude in the changing room and it’s great that we’ve been able to reach agreement on a contract extension at this stage.”
Lowry is currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained in a 1-0 defeat to Crusaders last month.
“He’s presently recovering from a recent injury and we’re looking forward to getting him back to full fitness soon as he will undoubtedly make a positive and major contribution to the remainder of our season and indeed the seasons to come,” Healy added.
“This will be welcome news and a boost for our supporters in the run up to the busy holiday period. Stephen is a quality player and I’m really pleased that he has shown his commitment to the club by agreeing and signing this contract extension.”
