IRISH LEAGUE: Glentoran boss Gary Haveron looks to push on

Even after an indifferent start the east Belfast outfit lie sixth in the league standings and Haveron believes that if can get all his main men back they can drive up the league standings.

“We had eight senior players missing and they were all key men for us. It was crippling to say the least.

“They have all been long term injuries as well. John McGuigan has been out for seven or eight weeks.

“Dylan Davidson was out for ten weeks and Ross Redman has been out as well for four to five weeks.

“So it has all been the key people. All these guys are very, very difficult to replace and I challenge anyone to have six or seven starters out and replace them and for results to remain the same.

“It is very frustrating because I know we have a good side and if we have everyone fit and available we can start pushing to move up in the top six or cement our position.

And Haveron knows it will not be easy against a Ballinamallard side on Saturday afternoon - even though they have struggled this year.

“The games we have had with them have been very tight. I think they are a better side than their points tally would suggest. I think they were hard done by against Ballymena last weekend, so we will have to be on our game.”
