IRISH LEAGUE: It's all or nothing now for Carrick Rangers boss Gary Haveron

Carrick sit bottom of the Danske Bank Premiership heading into the crunch relegation shoot-out.

Just three points separate the bottom four clubs in the table in what is one of the most tense and intriguing final days in recent history.

While a draw may see Carrick edge out the automatic relegation spot, Haveron knows only victory will guarantee the club does not finish bottom.

“We can’t rely on other teams above us losing and us picking up a point,” he said.

“We have to look at this game as a must win.

“There’s a certain clarity there and we know what we have to do. We’ll be going all out to try and win the game and take all three points. If we do that, we’ll climb above Ballinamallard and off the foot of the table, so it’s a massive incentive.”

With Carrick lying just one point adrift of Warrenpoint Town, two behind Ballinamallard and three off Portadown, the stakes are high going into Saturday’s season finale.

Warrenpoint host Dungannon Swifts at Milltown, while Portadown travel to Europa League hopefuls Ballymena United.

Last Saturday’s 3-1 win over Dungannon boosted Carrick’s survival hopes.

And Haveron has urged his players to up and ante once again when Ballinamallard visit the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Arena this afternoon.

“We fought back from 1-0 down and showed a lot of character,” he said of last week’s win.

“It was a good performance, but we need to produce a bigger performance this weekend. I want the players to show to me how much they want to play in the top flight.”
