IRISH LEAGUE: Stephen Baxter hopes Crusaders keep on motoring against Warrenpoint

The men from the Shore Road have won their last 10 matches on the bounce and have been in excellent form of late.

The opposite could be said about Warrenpoint - who play football but don’t get the results they deserve.

But Crues boss Stephen Baxter is long enough in the tooth to know that Warrenpoint will not be an easy day at the office.

“It will be a tough and it is another game on the road for us. It will be another test for us and it is a ground we have we have been to a few times and usually it is a tight game, so we are taking nothing for granted and we have to make sure we are up for the game and make sure we are ready to play.”

And Baxter says he has been pleased with his side’s recent run but there is still work to do.

“The team has been performing well in all competitions and we are coming into a very busy part of the season.

“We have Warrenpoint on Saturday and Dungannon in the semi-final of the League Cup on Tuesday and then Glenavon away.

“We have three away fixtures and those will test us. Our away form has been brilliant this year so we have to be confident in what we do and put our best foot forward and try to win football matches. That is what we have been doing and we have been doing it well,” said Baxter.

And Warrenpoint captain Stephen Moan knows that Matthew Tipton’s side will have to be at their best against the Seaview outfit.

“It’s a massive game and they are the form team at the minute.

“We played them the last time and they demolished us in the first half, but we are at home so we will have to be a lot tighter than we were.

“They have a very good attacking threat. You probable have the two best wingers in the league playing against you and you have big Jordan Owens down the middle so they can use the long ball if things are not going to plan.”

And Moan thinks they deserve more league points on the board than they have currently got.

“We are playing good football and we are a good attacking team but silly mistakes are costing us and we are conceding silly goals.

“You are punished for making mistakes in this league by the best strikers in the land.

“We should be higher but the league table does not lie.

“And we have the top five now until Christmas so it is massive that we get a couple of points from those and then we have Ards at the end of December which is a massive game for us.

“We need to be winning these games against the teams that are around us.”
