The Irish FA had been notified earlier this week that its application to the Sport NI Sports Sustainability Fund programme, for approximately £6.5m on behalf of football, has been successful.
The Sports Sustainability Fund is designed to provide much needed support to alleviate financial hardship as a result of Covid-19.

Seventy-seven clubs and leagues will share £4,840,162 of the award with the IFA receiving £1,715,431.
Irish FA CEO Patrick Nelson said: “I want to place on record our thanks to the Department for Communities and Sport NI, with whom we have worked closely over the last few months to secure this funding.
“We have liaised with our clubs and leagues to ensure their applications are robust and properly planned with the relevant paperwork and documentation to accompany them.

“We know football, like many sports, can play a huge social and cultural role particularly in times of adversity,” added Nelson.
"So we’re really pleased the game at all levels will benefit as we work our way out of lockdown and back into some sort of normality."
All 12 Danske Bank Premiership clubs have received funding.

Ballymena United FC £307,715
