The association confirmed it has received a number of queries following the release of the Health Protection Regulations by the Northern Ireland Executive on Friday night.

They reiterated that football training and games remain suspended below elite level, however non-football, fitness-only training for up to 15 people is allowed provided all government regulations are adhered to.

The statement read: "We have received a number of queries following the release of the Health Protection Regulations by the Northern Ireland Executive on Friday night (16 October).

"Whilst we wish to reiterate that football training and games remain suspended below elite level, we recognise that these regulations permit non-contact outdoor sporting events for up to 15 people from different households and some teams may wish to engage in non-football, fitness-only training.

"We would advise that, should clubs wish to do this, they do not exceed 15 persons per pitch and adhere to all government regulations."
