Lech Poznan v Rangers: Is it on TV, who to watch, form guide, Europa League preview, last match

Rangers may have already qualified for the knockout round of the Europa League, but their trip to Poland to face Lech Poznan on Thursday could still have major ramifications for Steven Gerrard’s side.

The Gers are joint top of Group D alongside Benfica, and have a near-identical record to the Portuguese side – albeit with a worse goal difference.

Thursday’s game could, therefore, have a huge bearing on who finishes top of the group, and who is likely to get a kinder draw in the next round.

The Glaswegian giants beat Poznan when the two sides met in October, with Alfredo Morelos scoring the vital goal in a 1-0 victory at Ibrox.

Gerrard's men are still yet to lose a game this season, and eased their way past Ross County on Sunday with a comfortable 4-0 win on the road.

Who to watch

Poznan’s main danger man is undoubtedly Mikael Ishak. The Swede has 15 goals in 21 outings so far this season, and scored a brace in his side's only win in the Europa League so far this term.

Teenage talent Filip Marcwinski is making a big impact in the first team this season, while Dani Ramirez has been a bright spark since joining the club in February, and has hit seven goals and five assists from midfield in 2020/21.

Opposition Form

Poznan haven’t been at their best this season. The Polish outfit are eighth in their domestic league at the moment, 10 points off the pace set by leaders Legia Warsaw.

Since they last played Steven Gerrard’s men in late October, they’ve won four, lost three, and drawn one.

Their last outing saw them hand out a 4-0 beating to Podbeskizie in the league, but their most recent Europa League game ended in a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Benfica.

Previous Meetings

Rangers' 1-0 win over Poznan in October was the first time that the two sides have ever met in competitive action, and only the third time the Poles have ever faced a Scottish team.

You’d have to go back to the 1982/83 season for the other two fixtures, with Aberdeen beating them 3-0 on aggregate in the quarter-finals of the Cup Winner’s Cup.

As for Rangers, they have had 10 meetings with Polish clubs in their history, winning six, drawing two, and losing two.

Aside from October’s clash with Poznan, their most recent meeting came against Legia Warsaw in last year’s Europa League qualification play-off round, with Gerrard's side edging out a narrow 1-0 win over two legs.

Prior to that, their last game against a Polish club was in 2004, when they beat Amika Wronki 5-0.
