Crusaders all but clinched their first Premiership title in 18 years with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Cliftonville.
The victory at Solitude – courtesy of Paul Heatley’s first-half goal – leaves the Crues nine points clear of Linfield with just three games remaining.
The Shore Road men boast a far superior goal difference – now standing at 27 – which leaves them virtually guaranteed of clinching the Gibson Cup.
Nearest rivals Linfield suffered a 2-0 defeat to Glenavon at the Ballymena Showgrounds, with goals from Kevin Braniff and Ciaran Martyn.
Meanwhile, Institute were relegated following their 2-1 defeat to Ballymena United at Drumahoe.
Warrenpoint Town – who drew 1-1 with Dungannon Swifts, will now face a play-off to determine their Premiership future.
Also on Saturday Ballinamallard United ensured their top-flight safety with a 2-1 win over Coleraine.
Elsewhere Glentoran and Portadown played out a dull scoreless draw at The Oval in what was a dress rehearsal for next month’s Irish Cup final at the same venue.
