Annabel Wilson defied some awful weather conditions to retain her Irish Girls Close Championship at County Galway GC.
The Lurgan golfer, who recently represented GB&I in the Vagliano Trophy, made a postive start in the final against Shannon’s Lisa O’Shea opening up with a birdie at the first.
The 14-year-old followed up with a second birdie at the sixth and this, combined with steady pars meant she turned four up.
The Irish international continued to dominate proceedings and finished out the match on the 15th green, securing a 4&3 victory.
In the morning semi-final Annabel made the course look easy as she slotted in putts in the morning round to sail through to the final after her 6&5 win over fellow international and friend Julie McCarthy (Forrest Little).
The second semi-final was a tight affair between Elisa Corcoran (Grange) and O’Shea (Shannon) with Lisa eventually prevailing by a single hole.
In the plate semi-finals, Eleanor Metcalfe played superb golf to secure an 8&7 win over Aine Donegan (Woodstock) while Lauren Walsh (Castlewarden) continued her winning form as she finished on the 18th with a two up victory against Alice Hutchinson (St. Anne’s).
The weather conditions did not phase either player in the final as they attacked the course and were evenly matched right up until the end when Walsh won the final hole to be crowned Irish Plate Close Champion.
