World number one Rory McIlroy launched a Saturday bid to track down runaway leader Jordan Spieth at the Masters, McIlroy, chasing a green jacket to complete a career grand slam of major titles went to the turn in four under par to reach six under for the tournament. The 25-year-old eagled the second and then birdied the eighth and the ninth to go out in 32 shots. He was joined on sixth under par by Tiger Woods who collected four birdies in his opening nine holes.
Ryder Cup captain, Darren Clarke, slipped backwards after a third round five over 77.
Graeme McDowell was also struggling and signed for a four over par 76.
Spieth made a solid start on Saturday with a par at the first followed by a birdie at the par five second.
