ITBA marks achievements of industry

The Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Northern Region are celebrating the achievements of the Breeding and Racing Industry at the Beechlawn House Hotel, Dunmurry on the 16th September 2016.

In the past Northern Region bred National Hunt horses have won Cheltenham Gold Cups and Grand Nationals at Aintree. This year there were 92 winners, including a winner at the Cheltenham Festival and a Grade 1 winner at the Aintree Festival. Others won at Grade 2, Grade 3 and Listed levels. In the Anglo/Irish Classifications 2015/2016 there were 11 Northern bred horses rated between 141 and 158.

The Point To Point horses won 39 individual races – one breeder bred four horses to win, and two other breeders each bred a horse to win five times. Many of these young horses are sold on and have been very successful on the National Hunt tracks, proving the ability of our breeders to produce top class horses.
