Enya Haigney, the brilliant winner of the Mighty Oaks Cross Country at Cookstown on Saturday, heads the Ulster Under 17 team for the Celtic Cross Country International at Edinburgh on January 9.
She is joined by Omagh team mate Niamh Heaney, Jane Duffy and Niamh Carr on a side with definite medal potential.
The men’s under 20s look particularly strong with Euro junior athlete James Edgar joined by Oisin Gallen, Craig McMeechan and Eoin McCann. Paddy Robb and Jonny Whan head the under 23s.
Under 17 boys: Sean Corry (Omagh), Tim Scott (Lagan Valley), Peter Gracey (Beechmount) and Conor Maguire (Monaghan Phoenix). Under 20 men: Oisin Gallen (Phinn Valley), James Edgar (City of Lisburn), Craig McMeechan (North Down) and Eoin McCann (St Malachy’s). Under 23 men; Jonny Whan (City of Lisburn), Paddy Robb (St Malachy’s), Conor Gallagher (St Malachy’s) and Dalton McGuigan (Phinn Valley). Under 17s girls: Enya Haigney (Omagh), Niamh Heaney (Omagh), Jane Duffy (Shercock) and Niamh Carr (Springwell). Under 20 ladies; Laura Gardiner (East Down), Clodagh O’Reilly (Annalee), Edel Monaghan (Enniskillen) and Toni Moore (Omagh). Under 23 women: Katie Moore (North Down), Zoe Carruthers (City of Lisburn), Rebecah Nixon (Dromore) and Amy Hamill (Glaslough).
