In one of the best entries for the Carlton Irish Under 15 Open for years Alpha’s Rachael Woods tops the seeds in the Girls Singles, Mixed Doubles (with Kyle Magee) and Girls’ Doubles (with 14-year-old twin Rebecca).

With a number of top Scottish and English players in the draw seeking to upset the seedings, Rachael is seeded to meet Ireland’s Niamh Gannon in the final and with twin Rebecca in the bottom half of the draw what a start to the season it would be for the Lisburn pair if they could contest the season’s opening final.

In the Doubles they are due to face Kim Feehily and Alexandra Troy in the final but the Boys’ Singles will be headed by three English players – James Penver, William Jones and Matthew Howcroft – with Kyle Magee the highest seeded of the Irish players.

Jones and Penver are seeded ahead of Mark Kinnerk and Kyle Magee in the Boys’ Doubles but watch out for Jack Armstrong and Peter McDonald who will be keen to continue where they left off last year.
