Matthew Bell and Lorna Fitzpatrick took the major honours at the Born 2 Run Kilbroney 10K Trail Race at Rostrevor over what proved to be a very tough but spectacular course.
The event, which was the third of the six in the Run Forest Run Series, certainly proved popular as it attracted a field of 360 competitors.
Bell had just lost out to John Black at Tollymore but made no mistake this time as he crossed the line with a seven seconds advantage over Minnowburn winner Stuart Paulin with Newcastle’s Marty Melville in third.
Ben Caughers from North Down placed fourth ahead of Newry City pair Paddy Havern and Jonny Gregg.
Jonny Gregg was first M45, Paddy Havern led the M50s with Dave Fulcher M55 and Norman Campbell M60 winning their groups.
Former junior and schools star Lorna Fitzpatrick showed her class with confident win in the Ladies race. The Beechmount athlete looked in control all the way and came to the finish thirty four seconds before Helen White with Niamh O’Connell from Murlough running well for third.
Lauren Hackney, Helen Perry, Toya Dornan and Andrea Heaslip completed the top seven with Janice Reid leading the F50 group.
