Brendan Teer keeps winning streak alive after Portaferry victory

Brendan Teer maintained his winning sequence with a convincing success in the Portaferry 10 Miles Road Race ahead of a field of 250.

The East Down athlete looked relaxed as he came to the end of the two lap event with almost three minutes in hand over Greyabbey champion Neil Weir.

Thomas Simmons, Chris Moren, Simon Murray and Gareth Lyons made up the top six. Amando Bamisile led the juniors.

There were section wins for Jim Benson M45, Mervyn Chambers M50, Norman Mawhinney M55, Jim Breen M60, Robert Miskelly M70 and Ivan Baxter M75. Collette McCourt followed her good performance at Dervock with ladies victory in front of Sinead Murtagh, Kirsty Sharratt and Patricia McKibbin.

The wheelchair race features another epic contest between Jim Corbett and Paul Hannon with Jim gaining the verdict by just one second.

Kent Swann and Roisin Hughes defeated all the other relay pairs as they won the mixed prize. Matthew Cairns and James Anthony led the men with Claire Oliphant and Julie Young heading the ladies.
