Cecil Dillon claims double success

Cecil Dillon celebrated a double success in the West Down zone Championships, staged at Loughbrickland Presbyterian Church Hall last weekend.

Dillon, who will feature in the Short Mat Bowls Tour’s World Masters at the Watson Stadium later his month, walked off with the triples and fours titles.

And, just to make it a day to remember for the St Joseph’s club, Brendan and Seamus Murphy took home the pairs trophy.

Holm Park’s Stuart McCartney picked up the coveted singles crown. The prizes were handed over by IIBA Chairman Harold Massey.

The title winners were: Singles: Stuart McCartney (Holm Park).

Pairs: Brendan/Seamus Murphy (St Joseph’s).

Triples: Cecil Dillon (St Joseph’s).

Fours: Cecil Dillon (St. Joseph’s).

Mixed Pairs: Annie Burrell, Jonny Gray (All Saints, Tullylish).

Gent’s Friendship Cup: Eddie Campbell (All Saints, Tullylish).

Ladies Friendship Cup: Evelyn Robb (Loughbrickland Presbyterian).

p Entries are now invited for the Mullabrack Open Triples tournament.

The action gets under way on Monday, April 6 with sections each night until Friday (April 10).

Finals night is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15.
