Round three of the Valvoline Irish Forest Rally Championship, the Moonraker Forest Rally will have added spice this weekend with the addition of Keith Cronin in his Citroen DS3 R5 and Daragh O’Riordan in his Fiesta WRC to a quality entry list.
Former British Champion Cronin is using the event as an outing before Rally Portugal to acclimatise to the new car on gravel and for O’Riordan it is a chance for the former Killarney and Cork 20 International winner to take to the loose, for sixty-four kilometres of forestry rallying.
Also returning to the forests is the 2014 Valvoline champion, Owen Murphy in his Mitsubishi Evo 9 for this Munster Motor Club organised event.
Josh Moffitt fresh from his third place on the Circuit of Ireland Rally will swap his Fiesta for a Mitsubishi Evo 9.
The leader of the Valvoline series, Mick O’ Brien, has welcomed the addition of Cronin, O’Riordan and Moffitt.
The two-wheel drive championship is being led convincingly by Micky Conlon in his two litre Ford Escort after two maximum scores which actually leaves the Castleblayney driver third overall in the points.
In the Junior section round two winner Patrick O’Brien in his Citroen C2 R2 is the top seed, with round one winner Kevin Eves not starting.
The organisers of Wales Rally GB are delighted to announce that Conwy County Borough Council has extended its highly successful support for the UK’s concluding round of the FIA World Rally Championship which takes place from 12-15 November.
