The Belfast Giants won the first of their Elite League double header against the Edinburgh Capitals with an emphatic 7-2 victory.

A brace from Kris Beeck as well as goals from Derrick Walser, James Desmarais, Darryl Lloyd, Mike Radja and Michael Forney secured a vital win in the Scottish capital.

The Cardiff Devils won 5-3 at the Nottingham Panthers to cement their position at the top of the table.

But the match is likely to be remembered for Cam Janssen’s stunning knockout punch on Tyson Marsh which left the Devils captain requiring medical treatment before he departed the ice.

Elsewhere, the Sheffield Steelers were 5-2 winners at the Braehead Clan while the Coventry Blaze secured a 4-3 home victory against the Dundee Stars. The Fife Flyers were also victorious after they beat the Manchester Storm 5-3.
