Robert Hastings was a double winner in the North Down IIBA National Championships at Strean Church Hall, Newtownards.

Hastings, who plays for Bangor outdoors and is an established international, walked off with the singles and over-55 pairs titles.

In a repeat of last season’s singles final, Hastings defeated his Ballywalter Park team mate Stephen Hedley in a gripping encounter.

It was also a case of taking a little bit of revenge on the current title holder!

Not to be outdone, Robert’s son was also on the winning rostrum in the junior singles following an impressive 9-4 win over Alana McKee.

Hastings’ Bangor colleague Keith Taylor was also among the trophies. Joined by his son Aaron and Keith Wright, the Rosemount boys swept to victory over the club colleague, Georgie Bailie, Darren Erskine and Jackie Erskine, 13-4 in a one-side triples final.
