Leigh Salters scored twice as the Braehead Clan beat the Fife Flyers 5-1 for their fifth successive win in the Elite League.

Derek Roehl, Ben Davies and Stefan Meyer also hit the target for the league leaders, who now have a six-point advantage at the top of the table as a result of the Belfast Giants’ 4-2 loss to the Hull Stingrays.

The Giants held a two-goal lead at the end of the first period, but Hull turned things around with goals from Will Frederick, Cory Tanaka, Omar Pacha and Eric Galbraith.

Jakub Sindel’s effort in the third period proved decisive as the Coventry Blaze edged out the Cardiff Devils 5-4, the Nottingham Panthers eased past the Sheffield Steelers 4-1 and basement team the Dundee Stars beat the Edinburgh Capitals 2-1 after a shootout.
