Ards retained the Denman Ulster Shield when they defeated Pegasus 2-1 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the final at Comber Road as they claimed the famous trophy for the 11th time.
In a match of high drama, Pegasus looked dead and buried as they trailed 2-1 in normal time before netting a a last gasp equalizer to force extra time.
And then the roles were reversed when the Belfast side took the lead in extra time only for Ards to force the penalty shoot out when they equalized with the last action of the added 10 minutes.
Then Ards keeper Naomi McKnight became the heroine when she saved two penalties to win the trophy in the shoot out.
The Co Down side had beaten Pegasus 3-1 in last year’s decider to end a 50 year trophy drought.
Now they are on course for a double success as they are still well on contention for the Ulster Premier League title.
