As the Eurohockey Championships in London fast approach two fixtures against the Netherlandsoffers the Irish men’s squad some ideal preparation.

The Green Machine lost 5-0 to the Dutch which is a scoreline that doesn’t do the men in green justice.

The deadlock was broken six minutes before half time when Mirco Pruijser scored.

The Dutch made it 2-0 at the start of the second half with a blistering goal. The third Dutch goal came from a rebound, the fourth from a PC and the fifth from an inspiring team break.

The match finished 5-0 to the Netherlands, the deserved winners, but the Green Machine had several of their own chances that they’ll surely look to convert when the sides meet again in the final match of the series tomorrow. But th ey will be looking to improve on today’s showing.
