Jonathan McMeekin is hoping that his 20 years of hockey experience, both on and off the pitch, will be invaluable in his new role.
McMeekin has just been appointed as Coaching and Club Development Officer with Ulster Hockey. He joins Ulster Hockey from the Irish Football Association, having worked with them for an 11 year spell within the marketing department
It is hoped that he will bring fresh ideas and expertise into the organisation, as they continue to grow the sport and the organisation further across the province.
He is a current member of Antrim Hockey Club and having been involved in the sport, both playing and coaching for over 20 years in Ulster and Scotland, Jonathan is looking forward to the challenge of working to further develop and raise the profile of the Ulster Hockey Union and its affiliated clubs.
Commenting on his appointment, McMeekin said: “I have been part of the hockey community in Ulster for many years, as a player and coach and I am delighted to be joining Ulster Hockey at such an important and exciting time for the sport.”
On the arrival of the Coach and Club Development Officer, Ulster Hockey Executive Manager, Angela Platt said: “Ulster Hockey is delighted to welcome Jonathan to the staff team, as our new Coaching and Club Development Officer.
“He joins the organisation at an exciting time, as we embark on the development of our new Strategic Plan and will undoubtedly bring new skills to Ulster Hockey, as we seek to grow the profile of our coaching and club development systems.”
