Wayne Boyd, who dominated last weekend at Brands Hatch in the annual Formula Ford Festival, returns to Silverstone this weekend to compete in the Walter Hayes Trophy – an event which he won last year.
In story book fashion, making a pass on the outside of the last corner the Templepatrick driver grabbed the lead to take the chequered flag.
It was the last of many moves over the race weekend that proved yet again, that he is one of the best Formula Ford racers in Britain. The former British Champion will be driving for Medina Motorsports and he is determined to wrap up the 2015 racing season at the home of the British Grand Prix with yet another victory.
However, competition will be fierce as the driver who finished runner up at Brands Hatch, Robert Barrable, will be aiming to get ahead of Boyd while Jonny McMullan from Newtownabbey will also be a force to be reckoned with.
To date he has won both the National and All Ireland Formula Ford Championships. Kevin O’Hara, who won the Kirkistown based Martin Donnelly Trophy earlier this month, is another driver capable of winning.
The Walter Hayes is the final event in a trio of prestigious Formula Ford events which commenced with the Martin Donnelly Trophy at Kirkistown in County Down.
