Neil Mulholland carries the responsibility of representing Ireland in the British Isles Singles Championship at Eddlewood Bowls Club.
The Lisnagarvey man has a big act to follow because Ian McClure, Paul Daly and Richard Leonard have all had their hands on the trophy in recent years.
Muholland faces England’s Lee Williamson in a preliminary round, with an outing later in the day against Jersey’s John Lowery up for grabs.
Meanwhile, Barry Browne and Marty McHugh will look to bridge a nine year gap when they feature in the pairs discipline.
The Whitehead boys have bagged the NIBA crown a staggering seven times, while the have pocketed the Irish title on five occasions.
But their victory back in 2006 at Wigton has so far heralded their only British victory. They have been handed a semi final slot and await the winners of the Scotland versus Jersey clash before they go into action.
