Coleraine’s Richard Chambers is through to Sunday’s lightweight double sculls final at the European Championships after winning his semi-final.

Chambers and Englishman Will Fletcher produced another impressive display in Poland to win by over four seconds from Norway with Ireland in third.

Meanwhile, Enniskillen’s Leonora Kennedy finished fifth in her women’s pair semi-final in Poznan.

Kennedy and her partner Monika Dukarska will race in the B final.

The Irish duo were fifth and over 25 seconds adrift of winners, the Netherlands.

Chambers and Fletcher are competing together for the first time in an international regatta.

They dominated the race from start to finish in a time of 6:16.83 – Ireland’s Gary and Paul O’Donovan are also through to the final.

Peter Chambers and fellow Coleraine rower Joel Cassells have already qualified for the final of the non-Olympic class lightweight pair.
