Stephen Duncan gets the job done as he wins Bann 10K

Stephen Duncan made the trip from Omagh to Banbridge and was rewarded with a very impressive victory in the 10th Bann 10K.

Duncan took the lead from the start and increased his advantage all the way to win by over two minutes in a very useful 32:52.

Stephen O’Gorman followed his third in the Les Jones with runner up position here with Dromore team mate Nigel McKibbin taking a good third.

David Griffin and Mark Cornett came next in what was a great race.

Laura Graham, second in the Belfast Marathon, was equally dominant in the Ladies clocking 36:46 to win by three and a half minutes from Patricia O’Hagan.

Diane Watson and Susan Smyth completed the top four.

Taylor Hill led the Boys Fun Run ahead of Jake Taggart with Nadia Radcliffe winning the Girls from Bethany Nixon in a reversal of last year’s placings.

There were record numbers in the superbly organised event with 461 finishers in the 10K and 743 in the Fun Run.

And everyone that took part enjoyed their day.

Dan Tanui smashed the course record for the Furey Insurances Buncrana 5K Race promoted by City of Derry Spartans.

The Kenyan, running for Project Africa, ran 13:57 to knock an amazing twenty one seconds off the record held by Freddy Sittuk. Eric Koech also Project Africa was second with Scott Rankin taking third just in front of Danny Mooney, Barry Harron and Ciaran Doherty.

Natasha Adams was a very convincing winner of the Ladies. Catherine Whoriskey placed a good second with Natalie Hall just holding off Martina McMullan for third.
