Meath’s Alan Bonner has joined Ivan Lintin in the RC Express Racing team for 2016.
Bonner will ride a Kawasaki Superstock ZX-10R for the Bristol-based outfit at the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix, which is run by father and son Roy and Ben Constable and backed by Devitt Insurance.
The Irish rider, who took over from Martin Finnegan as the fastest ever rider from the Republic of Ireland to lap the Isle of Man TT course with a speed of 127.090mph on his way to 15th in this year’s Senior, said he was thrilled with the deal.
“I’m delighted to be joining Devitt RC Express Racing for 2016. I’ve admired the team for years and have seen the commitment they have to their riders,” Bonner said.
“They have a very professional set-up and some of the best technical people in the sport working within their team. I can’t thank them enough or their sponsors for this opportunity, especially Mann Camping.
“I’d also like to thank all my personal sponsors for supporting me and am looking forward to getting out to Spain with them in early March to start testing.”
Bonner - now recovered from a crash during practice at the Ulster Grand Prix - bagged a double in the Superbike class at the Kells Road Races this year and finished 16th in the Superstock race at the North West 200.
Team co-owner Ben Constable added: “With more of a team infrastructure behind Alan, we firmly believe there is a lot more to come from him.
“His first outing on the ZX-10R will be in Spain in March and we can’t wait to get going.”
