Andy Reid has joined the Quattro Plant Kawasaki team to remain in the British Supersport Championship next year.
The Jordanstown rider, who claimed his maiden victory in the class this season on Keith Flint’s Team Traction Control Yamaha at Oulton Park before injury ruled him out for the remainder of the series, joins Filip Backlund and Luke Mossey in the Bournemouth team, who will compete in the MCE British Superbike Championship.
“I have to say first off: this is the best deal for me for 2016 and my only focus now is preparing myself correctly to go and win next season’s British Supersport Championship,” said Reid.
“I’m familiar with the Quattro Plant team and I’ve ridden a ZX-6R before, so I know how good the chassis is. I’m honestly really excited to be working alongside Filip [Backlund], who is a former team-mate, and Luke [Mossey] who I’ve known for a long time.
“The whole team seem a great bunch and I’m so happy to be back in British Supersport as that was always my goal for 2016,” added Reid, who will ride a top-spec Kawasaki ZX-6R.
“Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen. It’s very much appreciated.”
Meanwhile, James Hillier will lead Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s international road racing campaign at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.
Hillier lapped the Mountain Course at 132mph and sealed a magnificent second place in the blue riband Senior race, which was won at record pace by Honda Racing’s John McGuinness, who extended his TT win tally to 23 victories.
