BSB: Glenn Irwin has clear target at Oulton Park

MCE British Superbike Championship rookie Glenn Irwin is entering the Bank Holiday meeting at Oulton Park with the same strategy he adopted for his race bow earlier this month at Silverstone.

The Carrick rider, who tested with team-mate Shane Byrne at Knockhill rather than the official BSB test at Oulton last week, finished 13th and 14th at Silverstone on the Be Wiser Ducati and is hopeful of making more progress on Monday at the Cheshire circuit.

“I achieved my goal of bringing the bike home safely in the points in both races at Silverstone and that’s the plan again this weekend,” said the 26-year-old.

“That said, I’m feeling a lot more confident and we genuinely found something at Knockhill which I’m hoping will allow me to be more competitive and run with the leaders from now on.

“Shakey also found something extra at Knockhill and he has given me a few ideas also so I’ll put them into action to help continue our progress,” added Irwin.

“I really like Oulton Park and I’m hoping we can challenge for a good result and get a load more points.”

Practice gets under way on Saturday.
