In a statement on social media, Reid said he hoped to return at the next round at Cadwell Park from August 24-26.
“With the current climate leaving sponsorship under pressure, it was with regret a key sponsor behind Simon had to make the decision to pull out & being last minute it has resulted in Simon having to forfeit Thruxton,” the statement read.

“Big thank you to Cumins by IWR Honda for all their efforts & support, along with all Simon’s sponsors, we aim towards Cadwell Park & making the return to the grid.”
In opening practice at Thruxton on Friday, Northern Ireland’s Scott Swann – a winner in the class last weekend at the Silverstone MotoGP round – was third fastest in FP1 behind Luke Mossey and Tom Oliver.
Eglinton’s David Allingham was fifth quickest while championship leader Davey Todd ended the session in 11th on the Cheshire Mouldings BMW.
