This season’s enthralling Pirelli National Superstock 1000 battle between Northern Ireland’s Josh Elliott and Alastair Seeley resumes this weekend at Silverstone.
Ballinamallard rider Elliott leads the title charge by 17 points with two rounds to go including Sunday’s race but is taking nothing for granted as the Morello Kawasaki hot-shot aims to keep the experienced Seeley at bay.
Tyco BMW challenger Seeley won last time out at Oulton Park at the beginning of September to keep the pressure on his young rival, but Elliott remains focused on the task in hand and says his mindset remains unchanged as he eyes the top step this weekend.
“I have a lead of 17 points in the championship and I know I don’t have to win, but my approach is the same as it’s been in the other races and I’m going there for the win,” Elliott said.
“The Kawasaki is a great all-round package and Silverstone suits me; I know I’ve got the pace and the ability, so if the win is there we’ll go for it and then we can manage the situation when it comes to the final race at Brands Hatch.”
