This stunning picture of Michael Dunlop in action during Superstock qualifying at the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix on Thursday encapsulates real road racing at its spectacular best.
Front wheel pawing the air, Dunlop keeps the throttle pinned on his MD Racing BMW Superstock machine on the exit of the blisteringly fast right-hander at Lougher’s after the climb through Budore.
Nearing 170mph, Dunlop drifts towards the white line at the side of the road as he uses his body weight to wrestle the 1000cc machine away from the hedge at the fastest road race meeting in the world.
The 26-year-old qualified in sixth place for the Superstock race after a lap of 128.836mph.
