MOTORSPORT: Wayne Boyd looks to impress at Silverstone

The last major event on the Formula Ford scene the Walter Hayes Trophy takes place at Silverstone this weekend and a number of local drivers are on the packed entry list.

Wayne Boyd makes a return to the Formula Ford scene having spent the season in endurance racing in Europe with the United Autosports Team.

The Templepatrick driver will drive a Van Diemen for the Medina Spares Team.

Former Formula 3000 driver Kevin McGarrity makes his racing comeback after a six year absence and will drive a Ray owned by multi Indy Car Champion Dario Franchitti.

The Belfast man will be driving in aid of the Tiny Life charity.

Kirkistown regulars father and son Henry Campbell will have their Reynards car in action at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Also on the list former saloon racer Andrew Blair who switched to single seaters this season and he too will drive a Reynard.

Ivor Mairs will be driving his Reynard and Jennifer Mullan is back racing in Formula Ford and will drive a Van Diemen for Souley Motorsport.

The driver whom everyone will be watching is Dubliner Niall Murray.

He has had a dream season, winning the British title, the Martin Donnelly Trophy at Kirkistown and the prestigious Formula Ford Festival for the second time at Brands Hatch.

The organisers of the Killarney Historic Rally have revealed that the event on Saturday December 3 will be a round of three championships, the opening round of the Clonakilty Black Pudding Tarmac Historic series.

The inal round of the Southern Four series and the Stage Masters Challenge.
