Presentation time for HBHBS

The Chairman of the Half Bred Horse Breeders Society opened the award presentations at the Pheasant, Annahilt on Wednesday, September 28, by paying tribute to the horse breeders in Northern Ireland and emphasised the great results they have had with their progeny.

The honorary secretary paid tribute to the committee and other volunteers without whose help these events could not take place.

Limmerick by Lancer out of Zierbluete owned by Jane and William Collins

Beach Ball by OBOS Quality out of Echo Beach by Clover Echo owned by Brendan McSorley

Brood Mare Award: Dubh Rua by Flagmount Diamond out of Torchy Lady owned by Turlough Murphy. This mare has now proven her value, not only producing winning progeny but consistantly producing top class performance horses.

Sheldon Cup for Advanced Showjumping: Guru (previously Neat Krakatoa) by VDL Douglas out of Madame Delphine bred by Nicola Tang qualified for 2016 Rio Olympics, jumping for Mexico

Advanced Eventing Award: Graf Liberty by Limmerick out of Lisheen Star by Cavalier Royale, breeder Brian Livingstone. This horse has had many successes jumping at 3*/4* and at present is ridden by Christopher Burton and jumps for Australia.

Three Year Old Loose Jumping: Winner Hamilton (KWPN) by Tangelo Van de Zuuthoeve out of Bigranta by Rupert R owned by Kerry Teggart.

Rising Star Showjumping:

Lammy Beach by Beach Ball out of Chip of Coevers by Coevers Diamond Boy bred by Norman Watt.

Serpico by ARS Vivendi out of Aldat by Aldatus Z bred by George Campbell.

Rising Star Eventing:

Cooley’s Rourkes Drift by Courage 11 out of Doon-a-ree-Lass bred by Bill McCarrison. This horse also was awarded a Special Award for Achievement being highly placed in the 2016 Rio Olympics. In this his first advanced event he was the highest placed Irish or British combination.

Fly Away Ferro by Creevagh Ferro out of Rocketta by Macrocket bred by Violet and Emma Jackson.
