GUINNESS PRO12: Modest Stuart McCloskey aiming for more highlights with Ulster this season

Centre, Stuart McCloskey, accepted making his Ireland debut this season was a major highlight for him but lifting a trophy with Ulster at the end of the season would probably be a standout moment if it happened.

McCloskey, who was named Bank of Ireland Ulster player of the season at last week’s awards, is hoping there are still two weeks remaining in the season.

On Friday night Ulster travel to Dublin to take on Leinster with a place in the Guinness PRO12 final at stake on May 28 in Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.

“Getting that first international cap was huge for me and in terms of where I am in my career it will always be a standout moment.

“But I would also think winning a trophy with Ulster would be right up there as well,” said McCloskey.

The modest young man said he was taken aback at winning one of the top accolades at Ulster Rugby’s gala awards dinner.

Last year he scooped the young player of the season gong.

“There are quite a few players who were worthy of this award this season.

“Paddy Jackson has been outstanding and Luke Marshall has been in great form.

“I am delighted and it is always nice to be recognised after putting all the work in. I still have to keep working though.”
