Malone stormed to the top of Division 2A by outscoring basement club Nenagh by six tries to one at Gibson Park.

It took Malone six minutes to get the game’s opening try, the forwards made the hard yards with a serious of pick and goes near the Nenagh line drawing in defenders before spinning the ball wide for Adam Liddell to go over but Mark O’Connor sliced the conversion.

The full back made amends three minutes with a long range penalty.

Nenagh got points with their first attack of the game went Malone were caught offside in front of their own posts and winger Jack Moloamphy slotted over a penalty.

O’Connor landed his second penalty on 19 minutes to restore Malone’s eight point lead.

The home side’s second try came on 22 minutes.

Scrum half Shane Kelly took a quick tap penalty and was stopped close to the line, Malone showed patience working the ball through four phases before Liddell fed winger Rory Campbell who came in on the angle to score and O’Connor converted.

Campbell and Nenagh centre Derek Corcoran were sin binned for their part in a melee.

The visitors were reduced to13 men when centre Willie O’Connor was yellow carded but Malone had to settle for an 18-3 lead at the interval after Jack McMurty had a try disallowed for a forward pass.

O’Connor landed a penalty two minutes after restart after the visitors were punished at a scrum.

Malone got their third try on 45 minutes following a great solo run from McMurty, he was stopped short close to the line, the ball was worked through three phases before replacement hooker Lee Barlow rumbled over and O’Connor converted.

Malone’s bonus point try arrived on 53 minutes when O’Connor when over following more good driving by the forwards.

Nathan Brown scored Malone’s fifth try on 61 minutes when he took a great line to receive a pass from Josh Pentland and dart over opposed with O’Connor converting.

Nenagh got a try when hooker Aiden Doyle when over from close range and Moloamphy converted.
