Connacht Eagles stunned Ulster A with a convincing victory at Deramore as the visitor’s outscored the home side by five tries to two.

The Eagles took the lead on seven minutes when Aly Mulowney picked off a pass from Johnny McPhilips and raced under the posts from the 22 and out half Conor McKeon converted.

Connacht increased their lead on 21 minutes when McKeon knocked over a penalty from in front of the posts after the home side were caught offside.

Ulster got their first points on 31 minutes, they forced a couple of scrum penalties and from the third set piece Nick Williams picked up from the base and handed off Ian Porter to crash over but McPhillips missed the conversion.

Connacht finished the first half strongly but couldn’t turn pressure into points and had to settle for a 10-5 lead at the interval.

Williams should have scored a second try when he took a great line to cut through midfield knocking three defenders out of the way but knocked on going over the lineout.

Connacht got their second try on 51 minutes, they moved the ball through the hands with Niyi Adeolokun and Steven McVeigh created space for Muldowney to score.

Ulster hit straight back, Robbie Diack made a break he was stopped short the ball was quickly recycled and replacement prop Ruaidhri Murphy barged over from close range and McPhillips converted.

The Eagles scored another try on 65 minutes, following a poor kick out of defence they ran it back moved the ball through the hands across the width of the pitch and centre Cormac Brennan touched down in the corner with Aidan Moynihan converting.

The Eagles scored a fourth try on 75 minutes when following another slick handling move Ed O’Keeffe touched down and Moynihan converted.

Connacht wrapped up an empathic victory when Moynihan pounced on a loose ball and popped to O’Keeffe go over for his second try with Moynihan converting.

Rory Scholes went over for a consolation try with the last play of the game.
