Ireland suffered a disappointing 27-17 defeat to Wales to finish in eighth place at the Rugby Women’s World Cup.
The hosts were right in the contest at Kignspan Stadium at the break, trailing 10-7.
But Wales dominated the game and raced into a commanding lead, with even a late rally from the Irish failing to offer some hope.
Wales finished seventh overall but more imporatntly secured automatic qualification for the 2021 tournament.
Ireland have to wait and see, but may have to go through the qualification process.
Ireland coach Tom Tierney confirmed afterwards it was his last match as women’s coach after three years in charge.
