BuskFest is sending the call out to buskers across the Province to pick up their instruments and perfect their vocals ahead of the the 12th annual busking festival, which takes place on Saturday June 27 in Banbridge town centre.
Every year at BuskFest the streets of Banbridge town centre bustle and buzz with hundreds of musicians, singers, bands, solo artists and street performers from across Northern Ireland and beyond, all entertaining the crowds in the hope of winning a prize from the generous £3,000 cash pot.
The competition, which runs from 1-4.30pm and is followed by an awards ceremony at Solitude Park from 4.30-6pm featuring the top performers, will be hosted by BBC Radio Ulster’s Ralph McLean.
The Voice contestant and local singing star Daniel Duke and band are set to kick off proceedings, followed by performances by the winners of each of the six competition categories which are: overall winner, best individual busker, best band, best junior performer and best performance - which is sponsored by Banbridge Chamber of Commerce, plus the Spirit of BuskFest prize which is sponsored by The Outlet, Banbridge.
As well as a superb cash prize, the overall winner will also land a prime spot on the line-up at the excellent Glasto-style Sunflowerfest music festival, which takes place at Tubby’s Farm, Hillsborough, Co Down from July 31 until August 2, and attracts hundreds every year for camping and a wide range of music gigs from local and international acts performing across several stages.
