Legendary crooner Tom Jones, who certainly knew how to rock a tight-fitting pair of leather trousers back in the day, has confirmed that he will perform at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on June 22 with tickets available from Monday May 18 via Ticketmaster.
Organisers MCD have announced that indeed there will be be shimmying and swooning as Tom belts out his best tunes with the impressive set of vocal chords that have granted him enduring international fame.
Jones has always been about the power of the song and bass-deep melodies and this show will see him perform a rich medley of hits from his vast back catalogue in an intimate theatre setting.
Tom, who recently reconnected with the nation as a judge on BBC primetime talent show The Voice UK alongside Rita Ora, Will.i.am and Ricky Wilson, has sustained a 49-year career in the business - and his vocals sound just as good as they did in his heyday. Now 74, the artist has garnered some of the best reviews of his career for his two latest albums, Spirit In The Room and Praise & Blame (Island/Universal).
The star is of course best known for hits including It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah, What’s New Pussycat, I’ll Never Fall In Love Again and If I Only Knew.
First and foremost Jones is a singer of true rhythm and bluesy soul who is also fond of singing country, gospel and rock tunes, his thundering voice making each song his own.
Currently fresh from performing in Los Angeles at the 25th Anniversary of MusiCares honouring Bob Dylan, and the 57th Annual Grammy’s alongside Jessie J, Tom is ready to hit the road again.
