Universal Pictures set to film Dracula in Belfast

A film version of Dracula is to be made in Belfast.

The Universal Pictures horror shoot will last from August to November. Production will be based in Belfast but will be filmed across other locations, Stormont’s First Minister and deputy First Minister’s office said.

It will cover the story of the man who became Dracula, a vampire from Transylvania.

The movie stars Luke Evans from Fast and Furious 6 and Sarah Gadon from A Dangerous Method.

Joe Caracciolo, executive producer of Dracula, said: “Filming Dracula in Northern Ireland allows us to capture the extraordinary beauty and topography that resemble the European backdrop in which this story takes place.

“We are very much looking forward to bringing Dracula to Northern Ireland.

“It makes good financial sense, given Northern Ireland Screen’s film incentive programme, the favourable exchange rate, and an impressive local infrastructure that is well-suited for this type of project.”
